The Liberation Room is free. Community speaking engagements are offered at sliding scale. DIRECT SERVICES ARE ALSO OFFERED AT SLIDING SCALE. None of that is free to produce. Direct support from people who believe in this work is what makes it possible to keep it accessible to the people who need it most.

A note on tax deductibility. The Reconstruction Institute is a for-profit social enterprise, not a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — a deliberate structural choice explained on our Services page. That means general contributions to the Institute are not tax-deductible.

Emergency support for immigrants facing acute harm right now.

Immigrant communities are currently experiencing significant, documented burden as a result of federal immigration enforcement policies and practices under the current administration — increased detention, expedited removal, workplace and community enforcement actions, and the fear and instability that follows. This fund exists to provide direct, immediate assistance to individuals and families experiencing that harm.

This is not a general operating fund. Contributions designated here go specifically toward emergency, direct-need support for immigrants in crisis — not toward the Institute's programmatic or administrative costs.

  • Direct funds for individuals and families facing sudden loss of income, legal fees, bond costs, or basic needs following a detention or enforcement action.

  • Connecting community members with legal resources and know-your-rights information during a period of rapidly shifting enforcement practices.

  • Support for community-based rapid response networks that mobilize when enforcement actions occur in the Merrimack Valley and surrounding communities.

What your support funds.

  • A free, twice-monthly virtual community for people doing the work of seeing, naming, interrupting, and reconstructing oppressive systems — in their organizations, their communities, and their own lives. Free to every member, always.

  • Community organizations and grassroots groups who could never afford standard keynote rates still get access to this work, priced at sliding scale rather than turned away.

  • Individuals who want to take The Architecture of Harm but cannot cover the enrollment fee are offered scholarship access, funded directly by supporter contributions.

  • The analytical work behind the Reconstruction Framework, the organizational equity assessment, and new course content — work that takes real time to do carefully and is not billed to any single client.

Other ways to support.

  • Enrollment revenue directly funds the Institute's ongoing work. It's the single most sustainable way to support this organization while also doing the work yourself.

  • Training, speaking, and consulting engagements sustain the Institute's core work and fund the free offerings at the same time.

  • Share the course, the Registry, or an essay from the Notebook with someone doing this work. Reach costs nothing and matters as much as funding does.

Give your time.

Not every contribution is financial. The Reconstruction Institute relies on volunteers who bring specific skills and consistent time to the work — always in a defined role, never as a substitute for compensated labor that should be paid.

  • Help host, facilitate, or coordinate logistics for twice-monthly virtual gatherings. Prior facilitation experience welcomed but not required.

  • Review new lesson scripts and case studies for accuracy, clarity, and pedagogical strength before they're recorded or published.

  • Help translate course materials, the website, or Liberation Room content to expand access beyond English-speaking communities.

  • Help connect the Institute with organizations, coalitions, and individuals who would benefit from the course, the Registry, or the Liberation Room.

transparency and accountability

As a for-profit organization, Reconstruction Institute does not publish the same financial disclosures a nonprofit is required to make. What we commit to instead: every dollar given in direct support goes toward the free and sliding-scale offerings named on this page, not toward general operating overhead.
