What a Registry listing actually means

The word "equity" appears in thousands of organizational mission statements. The Registry is not a mission statement. It is a public accountability record for organizations that have moved from stated commitment to documented structural change — and that have submitted to independent verification of that change.

When you see an organization on this Registry, you are seeing evidence of specific, named, accountable structural work. Not training attended. Not values aligned. Structural work done, verified, and maintained.

TO BE LISTED

  • Organizations undergo the Reconstruction Institute's comprehensive diagnostic across six domains: power and decision-making, structural policies and practices, organizational culture, community accountability, labor and compensation equity, and reconstruction readiness.

  • Organizations implement the specific, named, accountable structural changes identified in the assessment — documented and verified by the Reconstruction Institute before listing is granted.

TO REMAIN LISTED

  • Listed organizations undergo reassessment every two years. Continued listing requires documented evidence of sustained and deepened structural equity practice — not simply maintenance of the status at time of initial listing.

  • Organizations must remain responsive to reassessment requests and maintain active communication with the Reconstruction Institute. Listing lapses if an organization becomes unresponsive for more than 90 days during a reassessment period.

removal from the Registry

The Registry has meaning only if listing can be lost. Removal is not punitive — it is the accountability mechanism that makes the Registry trustworthy as a public resource. The Reconstruction Institute reserves the right to remove any organization from the Registry under the following conditions. Removal decisions are made by the Reconstruction Institute's founder and are not subject to appeal, though organizations may reapply after demonstrating remediated conditions.

  • An organization that undergoes reassessment and does not demonstrate sustained structural change at or above the level verified at initial listing will be removed pending a documented remediation plan.

  • An organization that fails to respond to reassessment requests, does not maintain active communication with the Reconstruction Institute, or misses a scheduled reassessment without documented cause for more than 90 days will have its listing lapsed.

  • An organization that takes actions directly contrary to the principles of the Reconstruction Framework — including partnering with organizations that produce documented harm to marginalized communities, implementing policies that reproduce structural oppression, or publicly disavowing the structural change commitments made at time of listing — will be removed immediately without a remediation period.

  • An organization that misrepresents its Registry status, uses the Registry listing in ways not authorized by the Reconstruction Institute, or provides false or misleading information during the assessment or reassessment process will be removed immediately and permanently.

  • Reach out through the contact form. Describe your organization and your interest in the Registry. The Reconstruction Institute will schedule a discovery conversation to assess organizational readiness — no charge.

  • All staff complete the diagnostic questionnaire. The Reconstruction Institute analyzes aggregate responses across six domains and delivers a written assessment report with specific findings and a 90-day structural change plan.

  • Your organization implements the named, accountable structural changes in the plan. The Reconstruction Institute provides consulting support throughout the implementation period.

  • The Reconstruction Institute verifies implementation of the 90-day plan. Upon verification, your organization is listed on the Registry with full documentation of the structural changes completed.

  • Every two years, your organization undergoes reassessment. Continued listing requires demonstrated sustained and deepened structural equity practice.
