Reconstructing Local Government for Equity and Public Good

Local governments are where systems most directly shape people’s daily lives—through housing, public health, education, transportation, public safety, and land use. Yet many municipal structures were designed in ways that concentrate power, exclude communities, and reproduce inequity.

Reconstruction Institute partners with towns, cities, and municipalities to examine how local systems operate—and to reconstruct them to advance equity, accountability, and collective well-being.

Why reconstruction at the municipal level?
