betsey, lucy, and anarcha’s place

Reproductive Justice · Doula Services · Case Management · Care Navigation

Betsey, Lucy, and Anarcha were enslaved women in Alabama, subjected to repeated experimental surgery without anesthesia and without consent. American gynecology was built on their bodies and published under someone else's name.

The program that carries their names begins where their consent was taken: With the right of every person to decide what happens to their own body, and to be told the truth about it.
