The Tea Room
A closed space for Black women in professional spaces to connect with each other and pour into each other. One Friday a month, we sit down, exhale, and take care of one another.
The room you don't have to explain yourself in.
Many of us are the only one, or one of few, in rooms where we are expected to perform composure, carry extra weight, and make everyone else comfortable. The Tea Room is the room where we put that down.
It is not a networking event and it is not a workshop. It is a standing circle of Black women who work in professional spaces, who show up for each other, and who leave fuller than we arrived.
Pour in. Share what you know, what you have survived, and what you have to give: advice, introductions, encouragement, a witness.
Be poured into. Ask for what you need and receive it without having to earn it.
This is peer support, one of the six principles that guide all of our work, practiced as a monthly gathering.
THE SHAPE OF IT
